Created as part of the Reality Capture course, this project includes LiDAR scans of the Goldsmith Courtyard exterior and Jessen Auditorium interior on the UT Austin campus. Data was collected collaboratively using the Z+F IMAGER 5016 and independently registered, indexed, and processed by Kaylee to generate a 3D point cloud using Autodesk ReCap Pro.
For the final project, Kaylee also developed a method to produce accurate, to-scale orthomosaics using terrestrially captured photogrammetry of the Henry G. Madison Cabin in Austin and a masonry ruins house at Mission Espada in San Antonio. Images were processed in Pix4D to generate point clouds and export orthomosaics, which were then used to create sample condition assessments. These orthomosaics demonstrated how preservation conditions, such as the width of a crack or extent of deteriorated mortar, can be measured more precisely and with less distortion than traditional stitched photography.
