Held at Wupatki National Monument and organized as part of the National Park Service’s Brick, Earth, Stone, and Timber (BEST) Workshop series, the five-day Pre-Contact Masonry Preservation and Repair Workshop focused on the techniques and knowledge needed to conserve structures built with masonry materials prior to European contact in the Americas. The workshop emphasized understanding the unique properties of pre-contact masonry techniques in the Southwest, conducting condition assessments, performing field-based mortar analysis, and applying appropriate repair methods.
