While interning at San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, Kaylee worked closely with the park’s masonry team and fellow interns to stabilize a section of rubble low wall ruins at Mission San Juan, which included a variety of masonry types, shapes, and sizes. Tasks involved raking out and vacuuming unstable joints, mixing preservation-grade mortar, pointing joints with tuck pointers, shaping and setting new rock to match the original, and resetting displaced stones to their original locations using a photo labeling system.
